Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that all commitments outlined in the election manifesto and the July Charter signed before the people, will be implemented in phases.
He made the remarks while inaugurating the Deputy Commissioners’ (DC) Conference at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Sunday.
''Honesty, merit and efficiency will be the guiding principles for appointments and transfers within the public administration.''
He also instructed deputy commissioners to remain prepared to serve anywhere in the country as required.
Tarique Rahman emphasized that every position in the public administration is important and that officials must always be ready to carry out their responsibilities in any part of the country.
''Just as governments are not permanent, no position in public administration is permanent either.''
This Deputy Commissioners’ Conference has been organized for the first time since BNP formed the government in February this year.
At the DC conference, top policymakers presented the government’s philosophy of governance to the field level administration.
The Prime Minister said the DCs, "You are at the highest level of administration in running the state. You are one of the main driving forces in building a strong, accountable, lawful and people-friendly state system.''
Highlighting governance priorities, he said good governance is the foundation of the current administration and requires efficient management, capable leadership and accountability.
