Housewife dies after lightning strike in Noakhali

NOAKHALI, May 4: A housewife died after being struck by lightning in Companiganj Upazila of Noakhali on Monday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Lutfunnahar Romana, 40, wife of Abu Naser of the area.

The incident occurred in the South Ali Road area of Rampur Union, near Rajbennesa Mosque, during a sudden spell of rain.

According to locals, Romana had gone out to bring back cattle from a nearby field as rain started unexpectedly in the afternoon. While returning home, she reached the road when a sudden lightning strike occurred, causing her to collapse on the spot.

She was immediately rescued by local residents and taken to Companiganj Upazila Health Complex. As her condition worsened, she was being shifted to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital for better treatment. However, she died on the way, hospital sources said.
