Six alleged drug peddlers were arrested in separate anti-narcotics drives in Savar upazila in Dhaka district early Tuesday.
The arrested were identified as Ful Mia and Toiyob Ali of Mithapukur upazila in Rangpur, Shah Alam of Baraigram in Natore, Abdul Mannan of Charfesson in Bhola, Suman Hossain of Kaliakair in Gazipur and Maidel (Maida) of Savar.
According to DB police, a team of officials conducted a drive in Buripara area of Ashulia and arrested two individuals along with 100 purias of heroin and 210 pieces of Tapentadol tablets.
In another drive in Kuturia area, three more suspects were held with 100 pieces of Yaba pills, estimated to be worth around Tk 30,000.
In a separate drive in Baktarpur area of Savar, one individual was arrested with around 500 grams of hemp, valued at about Tk 15,000.
Dhaka North Detective Branch (DB) police inspector Saidul Islam confirmed the incident through a press release issued on Tuesday noon.
“The arrested have been produced before the court after filing cases under the Narcotics Control Act,” he added, noting that such anti-drug drives will continue.
