A young man was arrested over allegedly molesting a 15-year-old boy at Sreenagar upazila of Munshiganj district on Wednesday.
The arrested is identified as Md Nirab Sheikh, 22, son of Dhenu Mia of the upazila.
According to police and local sources, the incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon at Airtara area.
Nirab reportedly lured three local teenagers to a cornfield under the pretext of gathering grass. Once there, he strategically sent two of the boys away and trapped the remaining 15-year-old boy. He then allegedly subjected the boy to sexual assault.
The victim informed his family of the ordeal later that evening.
Locals noted that the accused, Nirab has a prior history of involvement in theft, drug trafficking, and other criminal activities in the area.
Sreenagar Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Milton Datta, confirmed the arrest and said tha following the complaint, police conducted a drive and apprehended Md. Nirab Sheikh.
Legal proceedings regarding this incident are currently underway, he added.
