Madrasa principal, teacher held over molesting student at Savar

The Principal and a teacher of a madrasa was arrested on Thursday following allegations of sexually harassing a seven-year-old female student at Ashulia area of Savar upazila in Dhaka.

The arrested are identified as teacher Mohammad Iliyas and Principal Anwar Hossain of Rauzatul Quran Adhunik Nurani and Hafizia Madrasa in South Gazirchat Sinsin Mor area.

According to the victim's family, the child is a first-grade student who resides with her uncle, Alamin, while her father works abroad and her mother lives in their village. 

The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday. The victim's relatives stated that after returning from class, the child was found crying. When questioned by her aunt, she revealed that the teacher, Iliyas, had lured her aside and subjected her to sexual harassment.

The family further alleged that when they initially informed the madrasa authorities, the management attempted to settle the matter internally. As news of the incident spread, locals became outraged, confining both the accused teacher and the principal before alerting the police.Police arrived the scene arrested the two individuals. 

Ashulia Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md. Tarikul Islam confirmed the arrests and said that police went to the spot and detained the accused.
