Elias elected Prez, Rinvy GS

Elias Khan and Shahnaz Sharmeen Rinvy have been elected president and general secretary (GS) of the Dhaka University Mass Communication and Journalism Alumni Association (DUMCJAA) for the 2026-2028 term.

The Annual General Meeting and biennial election of DUMCJAA was held at the TSC of Dhaka University on Friday night. Chief Election Commissioner announced the results around midnight after vote counting was completed.

Elias Khan, advisory editor of The Times of Bangladesh, won the presidency through a direct membership vote. Rinvy, editor of Shadhin Media, elected GS unopposed.  

Five elected vice-presidents are: Tarikul Islam Khan Robin, Md Nurul Karim Bhuiyan, Kabir Ahmed Khan, Sharmin Akter, and Shahed Alam. Shakil Hasan topped the joint GS, with Jesmin Jahan Moon and Md Majedul Hasan Payel also elected to the post.
 
Taqi Mohammad Zobayer and Masud Bin Abdur Razzaq were elected unopposed treasurer and organising secretary.
Several others were elected to secretary and executive positions in the same ballot.
