2 held with hemp in Patuakhali

Police arrested two alleged drug peddlers along with hemp during a drive in Patuakhali’s Dashmina upazila on Friday night.

The arrested were identified as Hasan Munshi, 32, a resident of Char Hosnabad area under Banshbaria union and Kawsar Payda, 35, of Dashmina village under Sadar union in the upazila.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of policemen led by Dashmina Police Station sub-inspector (SI) Faridul Islam conducted a drive around 9:45 PM in Pujakhola area of the upazila.

During the drive, police searched the bodies of the duo while they were allegedly preparing to sell hemp, recovered 300 grams of the contraband from their possession and arrested them.

Dashmina Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Atikul Islam told The Daily Observer that a case has been filed against the arrested under the Narcotics Control Act and they have been produced before the court.
