Keeping in mind the theme of "Agriculture is prosperity", and with emphasis on promoting good agricultural practices and sustainable farming, the day-long PARTNER Congress-2026 under the Program on Agricultural and Rural Transformation for Nutrition, Entrepreneurship and Resilience (PARTNER) project for the fiscal year 2025-2026 was held in districts including Munshiganj, Naogaon and Laxmipur on Tuesday.
MUNSHIGANJ: Organised by the Munshiganj Sadar Upazila Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) and with the support of the Upazila Administration, the programme was held in the Upazila Auditorium.
At the beginning of the programme, Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer (UAO) Agriculturist Riasat Sadat Hossain delivered a welcome speech. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Muhammad Musabberul Islam was present as the chief guest at the programme.
In his speech, the chief guest discussed the current status and prospects of agriculture in the district. He said that there is a plan to dig 20,000 canals in the next five years, which if implemented will directly benefit farmers and agricultural production will increase further. He emphasised on creating new entrepreneurs to ensure the versatile use of potatoes in Munshiganj. He also highlighted the harmful effects of excessive pesticide use and urged farmers to be aware.
Deputy Director (DD) of Munshiganj DAE Dr Md Habibur Rahman was present as the special guest. Also present were Additional DD Habibur Rahman, Anwarul Islam, Shantana Rani, Upazila Agricultural Extension Officer Humayun Kabir, former general secretary of Munshiganj Press Club and Sammilito Sangskritik Jote, Munshiganj President Mozammel Hossain Sajal, Jubo Dal leader Shamsul Haque Sarkar, etc.
Earlier in the day, a fair was held with 30 stalls where entrepreneurs displayed various innovative products including various food products made from potatoes.
DHAMOIRHAT, NAOGAON: Organised by Upazila DAE, the programme was held in the Upazila Auditorium.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Prashanta Chakraborty chaired the event, and Member of Parliament Engineer Md Enamul Haque spoke as the chief guest. UAO Agriculturist Md Delwar Hossain delivered the welcome address at the event.
Among others, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Ashish Kumar Sarkar, Upazila Fisheries Development Officer Md Ayub Ali, Upazila Agricultural Extension Officers Agriculturist Abhijit Kumar Kundu and Agriculturist Mahfuzur Rahman, Dhamoirhat Police Station Inspector (Investigation) HM Nazmul Huda, Sub-Assistant Plant Protection Officer Jahangir Rabbi, Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer Abu Sayeed, etc. spoke at the event. Later, the chief guest visited various stalls of the Agriculture Department.
RAMGATI, LAXMIPUR: Organised by Ramgati Upazila DAE, the programme was held in the Upazila Parishad Conference Hall.
UNO Nilufa Yasmin Nipa spoke as the chief guest in the meeting while UAO Md Mojibur Rahman chaired the event. Among others, Upazila BNP President Md Jamal Uddin, Upazila Primary Education Officer Md Abu Sayed Swapan, Project Implementation Officer Ruhul Amin, Municipality BNP General Secretary Syed Murtuza Al Amin, former councilor Didarul Islam Khandaker, Sub-Assistant Plant Conservation Officer Md Abdul Karim Kawsar, Press Club President Rezaul Haque, Upazila Parishad Office Assistant Md Delwar Hossain, and PARTNER Congress Member Md Shahjahan were present.
The chief guest said, "This congress is being held for the purpose of producing quality and safe food. For this, we have to put all the training to use."
