Schoolboy killed in B’baria lightning strike

A 15-year-old schoolboy was killed after being struck by lightning in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria district on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Fahad, son of Faruk, a resident of Binauti village under Binauti union. He was a student of class ten.

According to sources, Fahad was playing football with his classmates in a field near his house around 1:00 PM when a sudden spell of adverse weather triggered a lightning strike. He was critically injured on the spot and collapsed.

Hearing screams from the field, family members rushed to the scene, rescued him and took him to Kasba Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Confirming the incident, Kasba Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) said legal formalities were being completed in this regard.
