Firefly Campaign, a public welfare organisation, on Sunday launched a global awareness programme to prevent drug abuse, coincide with World No Tobacco Day and International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
This awareness programme will run in two phases: May 17-31 and June 20-26. It focuses on strengthening social awareness through family values, moral education, sports engagement, library development, employment opportunities and stricter law enforcement.
With the broader goal of building a healthier society the campaign has been inaugurated by Shuvro Kumar Ghosh, a student of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) through distribution of leaflets among students.
Firefly Campaign Convener Papel Kumar Shaha said collective awareness and public participation are essential to effectively combating drug abuse and fostering a healthier social environment.
