2 cousins hacked to death in Bogura

Two cousins were hacked to death over a long-standing land dispute at Mokamtala area of Shibganj upazila of Bogura district on Monday. 

The deceased were identified as Yasin Ali, 33, son of Jamil Uddin, and Suman Molla, 35, son of Mofazzal Hossain Molla. Both were residents of Lakshmipur village, where the brutal incident took place.

A 21-year-old youth, identified as Rahat Mondal was arrested in connection with the double murder.

According to locals, tension had been brewing between the two families for a long time over a piece of land. The dispute escalated into a violent clash on Monday morning. At one point during the altercation, attackers armed with sharp weapons brutally assaulted Yasin and Suman, leaving them critically injured.

Locals rushed to their rescue, but Yasin died on the spot. Suman succumbed to his injuries while being taken to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.

Shibganj Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Shahinuzzaman, confirmed the arrest of one suspect and stated that police drives are currently underway to apprehend the remaining attackers. 

He added that the police are treating the sensational case with utmost priority.
