Farmer killed in N’ganj lightning strike

A farmer has died in a lightning strike in Narayanganj's Araihazar upazila on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Samad Lalurkandi, 55, son of Akram Uddin, a resident of Lalurkandi area in the upazila.

According to locals, Samad, Yusuf Ali and Ismail went to work in the paddy field near the house in the morning.

At one point in their work, the trio was struck by lightning, causing the trio to be injured.

Later, family members and locals rescued them and took them to Araihazar Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared Samad dead.

Araihazar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Ala Uddin confirmed the death and said that the body has been handed over to the family as there is no complaint from them.
