Remittance hits Tk 30,478cr in 19 days of May

Country received remittances worth US$2.483 billion in the first 19 days of May this year, equivalent to Tk30,478.82 crore in local currency.

Bangladesh Bank (BB) spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan confirmed the information on Wednesday afternoon.

According to data from the central bank, expatriates sent Tk1,902.62 crore in remittances on Tuesday alone.

During the first 19 days of May last year, the country received remittances amounting to $1.793 billion. Compared to the same period this year, remittance inflow increased by 38.48 percent.

Bangladesh Bank data also showed that total remittance inflow during the current fiscal year, from July 1 to May 19, stood at US$31.816 billion.

In the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, the amount was US$26.33 billion, marking a 38.50 percent rise year-on-year.
