DSCC aims to remove Qurbani waste within 8 hrs

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has set a target to completely remove the first day’s Qurbani waste within eight hours, said DSCC Administrator Abdus Salam on Friday.

He made the remarks while distributing Qurbani waste management materials at Elephant Road in the capital.

The DSCC administrator said sacrificial animal waste must not be dumped into drains or sewers under any circumstances, as it could spread diseases and cause severe waterlogging during rainfall.

He said the main waste removal operation will begin at 12:00 PM on Eid day.

“The target has been set to completely remove the first day’s Qurbani waste within the next eight hours. We seek full cooperation from city residents to achieve this goal,” he said.

Abdus Salam also said DSCC is distributing 140,000 biodegradable bags, 40 tonnes of bleaching powder and 1,050 litres of Savlon to raise public awareness and ensure cooperation.

Urging residents to assist the authorities, he requested city dwellers to put Qurbani waste in bags and leave them at designated spots so that DSCC workers can collect them quickly.
