Investigators have received the DNA, autopsy, and viscera reports in the case of the rape and murder of eight-year-old Ramisa Akter in the capital's Pallabi area.

Sub-Inspector Ohiduzzaman Bhuiyan Nipun, the investigating officer from Pallabi Police Station, collected the DNA findings from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) forensic unit on Saturday afternoon.

With all forensic evidence now in hand, investigation officials confirmed that the probe is in its final stages. They are currently drafting the formal chargesheet, which is expected to be submitted to the court on Sunday.

In a significant development, the Dhaka Bar Association has announced that no lawyer will represent the primary accused, Sohel Rana, or his wife, Swapna Akter, in court. The association stated that the decision was made out of a sense of humanitarian responsibility and the heinous nature of the crime.

The victim's dismembered remains were recovered last Tuesday from a third-floor apartment in Pallabi. Following the incident, Sohel Rana fled by breaking a window grill but was apprehended later that evening in Fatullah, Narayanganj.

His wife was arrested at the scene. Sohel Rana has already provided a confessional statement in court, and both suspects are currently in custody.
