A sudden rush of Bangladeshis was seen on the Hakimpur border area of Basirhat in North 24 Parganas from Wednesday morning.

After the political transition in West Bengal, hundreds of Bangladeshis gathered there hoping to return to the country.

They were found waiting in front of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) check post, wih trolleys, bags, and family members, to get permission to return to Bangladesh.

According to Indian administrative sources, the state government has recently ordered the establishment of ‘holding centres’ in districts to detain infiltrators and suspects.

After this action, panic spread among Bangladeshis living in India illegally. That is why many people are expected to return home quickly.
