Minor drowns in Jamalpur pond

An 11-year-old boy tragically drowned in a pond at Madarganj upazila of Jamalpur district on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The deceased was identified as Anas, son of Hafizur, a resident of Mirzapur village at Madarganj upazila.
 
According to police sources, Anas had gone to a nearby pond to practice swimming. During the session, he unexpectedly slipped and sank into deep water. 
 
Local residents managed to rescue him and rushed him to the Madarganj Upazila Health Complex. 
 
However, the on-duty doctor pronounced him dead upon arrival.
 
Madarganj Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Snehashish Roy confirmed the incident.
