Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Sakhawat Hossain Bakul has issued a stern warning that immediate action will be taken against any hospital staff found misbehaving with patients.
During a visit to the Pakundia Upazila Health Complex in Kishoreganj on Wednesday, the Minister also emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring the safety of medical professionals.
Minister Bakul stated that the government is working relentlessly to improve the quality of healthcare and restore discipline in public hospitals.
He noted that the Ministry is conducting surprise inspections under the Prime Minister's directives to assess the real-time situation at the grassroots level. "We are observing the interactions between doctors and patients without any prior notice to understand the ground reality," he told reporters.
Addressing the recent measles outbreak, the Minister highlighted that the government has already launched a nationwide vaccination campaign. He assured that health workers are actively identifying children who remain outside the immunization coverage to bring them under the vaccine program.
To further bolster hospital management, the Minister announced that law enforcement personnel will soon be deployed at all hospitals across the country to guarantee the security of both physicians and patients.
During his visit, the Minister inspected the emergency department, male and female wards, and the hospital kitchen. He spoke directly with patients to evaluate the quality of treatment and food provided.
Accompanying him were local Member of Parliament Advocate Md. Jalal Uddin and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rupam Das, among other senior officials.
