Two Bangladeshi nationals shot by BSF

Two Bangladeshi nationals sustained bullet injuries when members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot at them in Basantapur bordering area of ​​Kaliganj upazila in Satkhira.

 

The incident took place at around 2:00am on June 2, 2026, in the Kalindi River area adjacent to Bangladesh-India border.

 

The injured are Md. Mohiuddin, 42, son of Md. Golam Rabbani of Shitalpur village of Kaliganj upazila, and Md. Shaheen, 28, son of the late Ali Sardar.

 

Kaliganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jewel Hossain said that they initially learned that Mohiuddin and Shaheen had gone to India illegally about a year ago in search of job.  When they were returning to Bangladesh on June 2 illegally by swimming across the Kalindi River in Basantpur bordering area, BSF members shot at them.

 

The police visited the spot on information. Since the condition of the two injured was critical, they were referred to Satkhira Sadar Hospital, said the OC.
