KAWKHALI , PIROJPUR, June 4: An elderly man died following a clash with a neighbour over a trivial dispute in the Choto Biraljuri area of Kawkhali Upazila in Pirojpur.
The deceased, Mobasher Hawlader, 65, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital on Thursday morning. He was the son of Najeeb Ali Hawlader of the same village.
According to family and local sources, the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when goats belonging to neighbour Rasul Hawlader allegedly entered Mobasher Hawlader's farmland after damaging a fence and caused crop loss. The incident led to an altercation between the two sides.
Family members alleged that Rasul Hawlader assaulted Mobasher with sticks and also beat him with fists and blows during the dispute.
Kawkhali Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md Ebad Ali Molla said the elderly man died while undergoing treatment after being injured in a neighbourhood dispute.
"Legal action is underway in this regard. The matter is being investigated," he added.
