Ad-din Medical College Hospital in Maghbazar has submitted its response to the show-cause notice issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) following the deaths of six newborns, a development that has drawn nationwide attention and intensified scrutiny of private healthcare services.

Speaking to The Daily Observer, Ad-din Medical College Hospital's Public Relations Officer Mukul Dey confirmed that the hospital had formally replied to the notice.

“We have submitted our response to the show-cause notice issued by the DGHS. We hope the authorities will be satisfied with our explanation,” he said.

However, the DGHS did not make any official comment on Tuesday regarding the hospital's reply. Attempts to contact DGHS Additional Director General (Administration) Prof Dr Md Zahid Raihan and Director (Hospitals) Dr Abu Hossain Md Moinul Ahsan for comments were unsuccessful.

A senior DGHS source, however, told The Daily Observer that the government is prepared to take appropriate action based on the findings of the investigation. The source said the hospital's response would be reviewed and discussed with Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain before a final decision is announced.

On June 4, the DGHS served a show-cause notice on the hospital, asking why its licence should not be cancelled. The hospital was initially given 72 hours to respond, but the deadline was later extended by an additional 48 hours following a request from the authorities.
