The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has rejected the explanation submitted by Ad-din Medical College Hospital in connection with the deaths of six newborn babies at the same time at its Moghbazar branch in Dhaka.

Health Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain stated the hospital authorities’ response to the show-cause notice was not acceptable to the ministry, alleging that the explanation failed to provide the necessary information and instead included irrelevant details.

Speaking to journalists at the Secretariat on Wednesday (June 10), the minister said the ministry had reviewed the hospital’s reply but was not satisfied with it. “The response did not clearly address the key issues for which the show-cause notice was issued. Instead, it contained unnecessary explanations. We could not accept the reply,” he said.

The minister said the hospital submitted a four-to-five-page response but failed to present the required information in a clear and structured manner.

Regarding the next steps, Sakhawat Hossain said, “Action will certainly be taken against them. After discussions, a final decision on the legal and administrative measures will be announced soon. No one will be spared.”

The deaths of six newborns at Ad-din Hospital recently sparked allegations of negligence in treatment. Following the incident, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) issued a show-cause notice to the hospital authorities. After reviewing the hospital’s response, the Health Ministry said it found inconsistencies and would decide on further action after discussions.
