Post-budget press conference set for Friday

Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury will hold a post-budget press conference on Friday at 3:00pm at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka to explain key features of the proposed national budget for fiscal year 2026�"27.

During the briefing, the minister is expected to outline the government's priorities, address economic challenges and respond to questions from journalists regarding the proposed budget.

The finance minister on Thursday unveiled a Tk 9.38 trillion budget, the largest in the country's history, focusing on easing inflationary pressure, boosting investment and employment, expanding social safety net programmes and promoting a more productive and decentralised economy.

Titled “Economic Democratization and Decentralization: Bangladesh on the Path to a Trillion-Dollar Economy,” the proposed budget amounts to 13.7 percent of the country's GDP.

The minister said the government aims to make the economy more productive, employment-oriented and inclusive through coordinated initiatives across sectors while encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation and ensuring the benefits of economic growth reach all sections of society.
