BD sends mangoes to Nepal Prez, Speaker, ministers 

Bangladesh has gifted more than 1,750 kilograms of premium-quality mangoes to distinguished personalities in Nepal as part of its annual "Season's Best Compliments" initiative aimed at strengthening goodwill and people-to-people ties between the two neighbouring countries.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu distributed the mangoes among Nepali dignitaries, senior government officials, diplomats, business leaders, civil society representatives and friends of Bangladesh in a unique display of what has become known as "Mango Diplomacy", according to a message received on Saturday. 

The embassy team delivered mango packs to over 360 recipients, including the President of Nepal, the Speaker and members of the Council of Ministers.

The consignment consisted of the renowned Khirshapat variety, a Geographical Indication (GI)-certified mango widely recognised as one of the most flavourful varieties in the Indian subcontinent.

The mangoes were freshly harvested from two orchards in Chapainawabganj, popularly known as Bangladesh's mango capital, and transported to Nepal through Banglabandha Port, Fulbari Land Port on the Siliguri border, and Kakarbhitta Port to ensure optimum freshness and quality.

The embassy said the initiative reflected the enduring friendship and close people-to-people relations between Bangladesh and Nepal. - BSS

It noted that the gesture symbolised the warmth, goodwill and spirit of diplomacy that continue to strengthen bilateral relations between the two friendly nations.
