PHULBARI, KURIGRAM, June 14: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has strengthened security measures along the Phulbari border in Kurigram to prevent any possible push-in from India.
Alongside BGB personnel, members of the Ansar force are also conducting joint patrols, while local residents remain alert and prepared to assist border forces if needed.
According to sources, surveillance and patrol activities have been intensified recently across a 36-kilometre stretch under the Lalmonirhat-15 BGB Battalion. Ansar members have been deployed to assist BGB in maintaining round-the-clock vigilance at border points.
BGB officials said maximum alertness has been maintained to prevent illegal intrusion, push-in attempts and smuggling activities. Patrols and monitoring have been increased at sensitive points along the border.
Meanwhile, residents of border villages are also closely monitoring the situation. Local awareness campaigns are ongoing, urging people to immediately inform BGB if they notice any suspicious movement.
Locals said they are fully prepared to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in safeguarding national sovereignty and border security.
Assistant officer of Phulbari Upazila Ansar Battalion, Nura Nahar, said 12 Ansar members have been deployed at each of the six BGB camps in the upazila to support joint operations.
Company Commander Subedar Pradip Kumar Bhaumik of Shimulbari Camp under Lalmonirhat-15 BGB Battalion said BGB personnel remain on constant alert and local residents are also assisting in preventing any possible push-in.
He added that no push-in incident has been reported so far in the Phulbari border area, but BGB remains fully prepared to handle any situation.
