Lionel ‌Messi equalled the men's World Cup ⁠all-time scoring record with a hat-trick in Argentina's opener against ‌Algeria ⁠on Tuesday, matching former Germany striker ⁠Miroslav Klose's tally of ⁠16 goals.

The Argentine veteran, playing at a record sixth World Cup, scored from distance in the first half and poked home from close range in the second period.
