A Dhaka court on Wednesday issued arrest warrants against former Somoy Television Managing Director Ahmed Jobayer and five others, including members of his family and two individuals linked to the case, for failing to comply with court summons in a criminal breach of trust and bank fraud case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman passed the order after the accused failed to appear before the court on the scheduled date despite being directed to do so.
According to court sources, the case stems from allegations of criminal breach of trust and financial irregularities involving banking transactions. The case was filed with Kalabagan Police Station in the capital, naming Ahmed Jobayer and five others as accused.
Court records show that on May 10, the Metropolitan Magistrate Court issued summons directing the accused to appear before the court either in person or through legal representatives and submit their explanations regarding the allegations. The prosecution wing of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police subsequently confirmed the issuance of the summons on May 14.
