
The Janaza prayer of former state minister and BNP Vice Chairman Harun-ur-Rashid was held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building on Friday.
The Janaza was held at 1030 am and was attended by the Speaker of the National Parliament, the Deputy Speaker, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, political leaders and activists and a large number of well-wishers.
After the Janaza prayer, Prime Minister's Military Secretary Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq paid tribute to the deceased on behalf of the Prime Minister by placing a wreath.
The Speaker and Deputy Speaker also paid their respects by placing wreaths. Later, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir paid tribute on behalf of the BNP.
Leaders and activists from different levels of the party, along with people from various walks of life, gathered to pay their final respects to the veteran politician.
Harun-ur-Rashid passed away at around 845 pm on Thursday (June 18) while undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in the capital.
He was a five-time Member of Parliament from the Brahmanbaria-3 constituency and a former president of Brahmanbaria district BNP. He was 87 years old.
According to family members, he will be buried at the family graveyard in Brahmanbaria after Zohar prayers on Saturday.
