The deceased were identified as Jashim Uddin of Agtaluk Village; Jibal Uddin of Amarpur Village; and Mostaque Ahmed, Zubaier Ahmed and Quader Ahmed, residents of Majhtaluk Village under South Bani Union in Kanaighat Upazila of Sylhet.

It was known that they were headed to work in a pickup van when the vehicle veered out of control and crashed. Six people were killed on the spot. Another was an Indian national.

The bodies of the deceased are currently being kept in the morgue of a local hospital.
