Train kills mentally disabled woman

SHIBCHAR, MADARIPUR, June 21: A mentally challenged woman died after being run over by a train near an oil pump in the Madbarerchar area of Shibchar Upazila of the district on Saturday morning .

The deceased Shukran Begum, 75, was the wife of Mokshed Hawlader of Bachamora Village in Dattapara Union of the upazila.

According to police and local sources, the Sundarban Express train ran over Shukran Begum between Padma and Shibchar railway stations on Saturday morning. Being informed by locals, the Shibchar police and railway police recovered the body. Her family members said that she had been missing since Friday afternoon.

Officer-in-Charge of Shibchar Police Station Md Kamal Hossain confirmed the incident.
