One jailed for possessing hemp

RAJBARI, June 21: A mobile court of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) led by Executive Magistrate and Goalanda Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md Muntasir Hasan Khan jailed a person for one month and also fined him Tk 100 for possessing hemp.

The anti-drug drive was conducted in the Asia Boarding area of Uttar Daulatdia under Goalanda Ghat Police Station on Saturday evening and Ashish Chandra Shil, 26, son of late Ananda Chandra Shil of Belishwar in Dhamrai Upazila of Dhaka District, was arrested along with hemp. Later, the Executive Magistrate jailed and fined him as per the relevant section of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018.
