Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has warned that gusty winds reaching up to 60 kilometres per hour may sweep across 13 districts, including Dhaka on Tuesday night.

The warning was issued on Tuesday afternoon in a special alert for inland river ports.

According to the alert, temporary squally winds from the east and southeast, with speeds of 45-60 kilometres per hour, may affect Dhaka, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Faridpur, Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram and Sylhet regions.

River ports in the affected areas have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal No. 1.

In another bulletin, the weather office said all divisions of the country may experience temporary gusty winds accompanied by lightning, along with light to moderate rain or thundershowers until evening.

The BMD also forecast moderate to heavy rainfall in some areas and said the tendency of storms and heavy rain may increase further in the coming days.
