DU VC leaves for China visit

Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam left Dhaka on Tuesday for a five-day official visit to China to attend the “Chinese Bridge” programme at Yunnan University.

During the visit, the DU Vice-Chancellor will deliver a lecture at the opening ceremony of the programme and participate in several high-level meetings with officials of Yunnan University.

He is also scheduled to hold bilateral and multilateral discussions aimed at strengthening ongoing academic and research collaborations between Dhaka University and Yunnan University.

As part of the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two universities will be signed to further enhance the Chinese Language Programme at Dhaka University.

Under the proposed programme, students will complete their first two years of study at Dhaka University, spend their third year at Yunnan University, and return to DU to complete their final year and graduate.

Prof. Obaidul Islam is expected to return home on June 27.

During his absence, DU Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Abdus Salam will perform routine responsibilities of the Vice-Chancellor in addition to his regular duties.
