BIWTA Director Arif Uddin suspended

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has temporarily suspended its Director (Ports and Transport Division) A K M Arif Uddin (Arif Hasnat) following the circulation of an alleged compromising video involving a woman on social media and longstanding allegations of irregularities and corruption. A notification suspending him was issued on Tuesday.

According to the order, the publication of video clips on various social media platforms alleging misconduct, corruption, and inappropriate behavior with a woman at a hotel, Arif Uddin has tarnished the image of the organization. The suspension was imposed under Rule 41(1) of the BIWTA Employees Service Regulations, 1990, citing violations of Rules 35(b) and 35(e).
