Snakebite kills youth in Jashore

A young man was killed from snakebites in Jhikargacha Upazila of Jashore on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Rakibul Hasan, 25, son of Joynal Abedin, a resident of Jafarnagar Village under Shimulia Union in the upazila.

The deceaed’s family members said that Rakibul was bitten by a venomous snake while sleeping in the house at early hours.

He was initially given traditional treatment and later admitted to Jashore 250-bed General Hospital at around 6am.

However, the youth died while undergoing treatment at the hospital’s medicine ward at around 7:15am.

The hospital’s emergency department physician Bichitra Mallik said snakebite marks were found on a finger of Rakibul’s left hand.
