Female physician found dead in Dhaka apartment

The police on Friday recovered the body of a physician named Farah Ferdous, 32, from an apartment in the residential building of Aziz Super Market in Shahbagh, the Dhaka.

She was rescued from the apartment’s 14th floor in the afternoon and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the attending physician declared her dead.

Farah Ferdous was an Assistant Surgeon through the 39th BCS. She was a Phase-B resident trainee in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at Bangladesh Medical University (BMU). Earlier, she had completed her MBBS from Sir Salimullah Medical College in 2017.

Shahbagh Police Station sources, Farah was the daughter of Abdur Rashid and Ferdousi Rashid of Paigram in Phultala Upazila, Khulna. She was unmarried and lived alone in the apartment.

The police said the cause of death could not be confirmed initially. Further details will be known after the post-mortem report and completion of the investigation. Legal proceedings in connection with the incident are ongoing.
