COX'S BAZAR, June 28: Two motorcyclists were killed and another was seriously injured after their motorcycle collided with a microbus in Chakaria Upazila of Cox's Bazar on Sunday morning.
The accident occurred around 8:45am in the Mohajerpara area of Baraitali Union.
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Mahbub, 27, son of late Abul Kalam, and Mohammad Russell, 23, son of late Kamal Hossain. Both were residents of Mohajerpara village.
Another rider, Mohammad Shahed, 24, sustained critical injuries and was admitted to a local hospital.
According to local residents, Mahbub was riding the motorcycle with Russell and Shahed as passengers. As the motorcycle entered the BNA-Pekua road from a village road, it collided with a microbus travelling from Baraitali towards Pekua.
Baraitali Union Parishad member Shahidul Islam said Mahbub died on the spot, while Russell and Shahed were taken to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex, where Russell later succumbed to his injuries.
Shahed is undergoing treatment, he added.
Officer-in-Charge of Chakaria Police Station Mohammad Monir Hossain said inquest reports had been prepared for the two bodies.
