NARAYANGANJ, July 1: Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) Administrator Advocate Sakhawat Hossain Khan inaugurated the work of removing waste from the drains with his own hands.

During the inauguration of the canal re-excavation and drain cleaning work in the Siddhirganj Jalkuri Dashpipe area of Ward No. 9 of NCC on Wednesday afternoon, he cleaned the drain with his own hands. Later, the canal re-excavation work in the Jalkuri Dashpipe area was started with an excavator. NCC Acting Chief Executive Officer Noor Kutubul Alam and many others were present at that time.

NCC Administrator Advocate Sakhawat Hossain Khan said, “If this canal is cleaned, not only will the menace of mosquitoes be reduced, but you will all benefit. You will also keep an eye on whether the work is being done properly. As the drains were filled with waste, water would accumulate on the roads and houses during a light rain.

I hope that the city residents will be freed from the curse of water-logging as the drains are cleaned. We have already taken initiatives to dig many canals, clean water bodies and drains, and repair roads. We hope that all the problems will be resolved within six months.”
