A woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her grand son and her husband sustained injuries when tried to save her in Gaibandha on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
The deceased is Fereza Begum (65) while the injured is his husband Karim Mia (70).
The incident took place on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, afternoon in Khamarpaban Tair village of Ghuridaha union of the upazila.
Police have arrested the accused Shakil Mia (19) in this incident.
It is learned that accused Shakil Mia, a drug addict from Pawantair village of Saghata upazila, got married recently.
Despite many efforts, his wife could not make her husband giving up drugs. So, the wife went to her father’s house on Wednesday morning. Later, Shakil pressured his grandparents to bring his wife back from the in-laws’ house. When they did not agree to his words, Shakil attacked his grandfather and grandmother with a sharp weapon during an argument leaving them seriously injured on the spot.
Later, locals came forward and rescued the seriously injured couple. Locals first took them to Saghata Upazila Health Complex. Later, as their condition was critical, they were shifted to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. On the way, Fereza Begum died at a place called Kaidar Gate in Jumarbari Union.
Saghata Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahbub Alam confirmed the matter.
