Heavy rainfall expected in parts of Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning, in many parts of the country over the 24 hours from 9:00am on Friday.

Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall is likely at places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.

The BMD said day temperatures may rise slightly, while night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged across the country.

The highest rainfall recorded in the 24 hours until 6:00am on Friday was 72mm in Sylhet.

According to the weather office, the monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong over the North Bay.
