Seven persons were awarded death sentence for raping a housewife in Jamalpur in the year of 2025.
Jamalpur Tribunal Judge Muhammad Abdur Rahim of Woman and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 handed down the verdict on Monday, July 6, 2026.
Moreover, every accused is fined Tk 1lakh and an accused was released as the accusation brought against him was not proved before the court.
According to the case statement, the 26-year-old victim was abducted and gang raped on May 25, 2025. She was taken into an abandoned room and was raped by the convicted accused. The victim filed a rape case at Bakshiganj police station on the next day, Public Prosecutor Fazlul Haque of the court confirmed.
After examining the testimony of eight witnesses, the court gave death penalty to Ashraful Islam, Rashedur Rahman Pappu, Biju Mia, Badshah Mia, Moniruzzaman Juel, Achmot Ali, and Jashimuddin.
All of the accused were present before the court while the verdict was given.
