A 70-year-old man was killed in a landslide in Baghaichhari upazila of Rangamati on Tuesday morning.
The deceased, Lakkhi Bilash Chakma, was a resident of Paschim Lailyaghona area under Ward No. 6 of Baghaichhari Municipality.
According to local administration and public representatives, the incident occurred around 7:30am while he was cutting a tree beside his house at the foot of a hill. A section of the hill suddenly collapsed, killing him on the spot.
Baghaichhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Amena Marjan confirmed the death and said she was heading to the scene to gather further details.
