Prisoner escapes jail after scaling wall in Khulna

An under-trial prisoner named Emon Majhi (25) has escaped from Khulna District Jail-2 by scaling the wall. Manhunt has resumed following his escape after breaching the security perimeter of the prison around 4:30 pm on Thursday.

According to the prison authorities and relative sources, escaped inmate Emon Majhi is the son of Abdul Majhi, a tenant at Zia Mia’s house in the Sachibunia Sekelar Bottala area under Lobonchara Police Station.

Primary investigation revealed that Emon climbed on a roof of a washroom next to female ward of the prison. He then tactically scaled the eastern wall of the prison and went outside. After noticing, prison guards raised an alarm “pagla ghanta” and the manhunt began. 

Emon Majhi had been detained in a theft case since June 13, 2026 (Case No. 09(01)25; Section 381/34) filed with Sonadanga Police Station.
