PBI unearths teenager murder mystery in Manikganj

MANIKGANJ, July 10: The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has unravelled the mystery of the murder of teenager Sakibul, son of Rahmat Ali of Mitra Village in Manikganj Sadar Upazila. PBI arrested one Asaduzzaman Asad in this incident.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Joyita Shilpi confirmed the arrest at a press conference held at the Manikganj PBI office on Thursday. Arrested Asad is the son of Hafez Md Idris Ali of Golai Village in Singair Upazila.

The SP said that 16-year-old Sakibul went missing on June 30. The next day, police recovered his body from a jute field in Golai Notunpara Village of Jamsa Union in Singair. After the incident, the PBI started a shadow investigation and arrested Asaduzzaman Asad, the assistant manager of a hotel in Savar.

During the initial interrogation, Asad said that on the evening of June 30, he rented the auto-rickshaw driven by Sakibul from Savar to Mitra area. On the way, the two had an argument over the jerking of the auto-rickshaw. At one stage, Asad took Sakibul to a jute field near his house and beat him to death. Preparations are underway to send the arrested Asad to court, the PBI said.
