Journalists in Feni on Saturday formed a human chain and held a protest rally condemning the attack on Mohona Television reporter Nizam Uddin Sajib while he was performing his professional duties in Chhagalnaiya.
The programme, organised under the banner of working journalists in Feni, was held at the Feni Press Club premises and chaired by former Press Club president and freedom fighter Abu Taher.
Speakers strongly condemned the attack, alleging that Sajib had been shot at in an attempt to kill him and that there had been a plan to dispose of his body in a river. They described the incident as a serious attack on press freedom.
The journalists thanked police for arresting two suspects and demanded the swift identification and arrest of all those involved, including anyone who masterminded the attack. They also called for exemplary punishment for the perpetrators.
The speakers said the journalist community would remain united against any attempt to intimidate or silence independent journalism.
