CHAR FASSON, BHOLA, July 11: An attack and vandalism incident has occurred at the HSC examination centre at Fatema Matin Women's College in Char Fasson Upazila of Bhola District.

The incident took place around on Saturday, after the HSC exams concluded. According to eyewitnesses, at least 10 people were injured in the attack, including the college committee president, Humayun Kabir Sikder, and former councillor of Ward No. 6, Zahidul Islam Russell. Police fired several rounds of tear gas to bring the situation under control.

The acting principal of Women's College and the acting officer of the centre management committee stated that the attack occurred because examinees were not allowed to use unfair means during the exam. He said that candidates from Char Fasson Government College, who were taking the ICT exam, resorted to attacking and vandalising the HSC exam centre after being denied the opportunity to cheat. After the HSC exam ended, 884 candidates who had participated in the ICT exam left the centre. At around 1:15 pm, over 200 of these examinees gathered aggressively at the main gate, chanted slogans like "fake, fake," and started throwing eggs into the college premises. Later, they broke down two gates on the north-western side, entered the college, and smashed the glass windows of the principal's office from behind. During this time, panic spread among the teachers and staff of the college. Police arrived at the scene and fired tear gas to control the situation. Later, the examinees' answer scripts were sent to the post-office with the assistance of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO).

Eyewitnesses reported that today's HSC exam was in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The attack was carried out by aggrieved examinees after the exam because most of the questions did not match their preparation, and they did not receive any cooperation from the hall invigilators.

Char Fasson Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Rumana Afroz, said, "Due to the difficult questions and lack of cooperation from teachers, the examinees became aggressive after the exam and created this unfortunate incident. Police dispersed them by firing tear gas. The situation is currently calm."

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Char Fasson Police Station Mohammad Mahmud Al Farid Bhuiyan confirmed the news.
