Continuous rainfall has caused widespread waterlogging in Madaripur town, disrupting daily life and leaving residents facing severe inconvenience.
Several roads, including Puran Bazar, Hamid Akand Road, Dr Akhil Bandhu Road, Shaheed Manik Road and Public Library Road, went under water, while low-lying residential areas were also inundated.
According to the local weather office, Madaripur recorded15 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours, with more rain likely over the next few days.
Residents blamed poor drainage and unplanned urban development for the recurring waterlogging. Many said even moderate rainfall leaves parts of the town submerged.
Rickshaw puller Md Rezzak said he had been unable to work properly for the past four days due to the rain, while shopkeeper Kamal Matubbar said business had dropped sharply because of the bad weather.
Madaripur Municipality Administrator Mosa Jesmin Akter Banu said the authorities had taken necessary steps to ease the waterlogging and were working on a long-term solution.
