The Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) has instructed all government primary schools across the country to plant five tree saplings on July 15 in support of the government’s nationwide tree plantation campaign.
The directive was issued recently by the DPE’s Administration-2 Section and signed by Assistant Director (General Administration) Md Sajjad Hossain.
According to the directive, the tree plantation drive will coincide with the Primary Education Medal-2026 award distribution ceremony at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center, where the Prime Minister is scheduled to take part in a tree-planting programme.
Each government primary school has been asked to plant five saplings representing three categories"fruit-bearing, forest and medicinal trees"simultaneously on the day.
Deputy directors of the department have been directed to ensure the necessary arrangements, with the matter marked as “very urgent”.
Officials said the initiative aims to increase greenery on school campuses, help protect the environment, and raise students’ awareness about the importance of environmental conservation and tree plantation.
