The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast thunderstorms with gusty winds of up to 60km/h in five districts by 1pm on Wednesday.
According to the inland river port forecast, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Cumilla and Sylhet may experience temporary gusty or squally winds of 45-60km/h from the south or southeast, accompanied by rain or thundershowers. River ports in these areas have been advised to hoist warning signal No. 1.
In its 24-hour forecast issued from 6pm Tuesday, the BMD said light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds are likely at many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, and at some places in Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.
Moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur in parts of the country, while both day and night temperatures are expected to rise slightly.
The BMD also said the monsoon remains active over northern Bangladesh and fairly active elsewhere. A low-pressure area is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas within the next 24 hours.
