
Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman attended the Primary Education Award-2026 distribution ceremony.
The Prime Minister attended a program organized by the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center in Agargaon in the capital at 10 am on Wednesday (July 15).
Earlier on Tuesday (July 14), a press release from the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education said that as part of the implementation of pledges 17 and 18 of the government's election manifesto, sports, cultural, subject-based quizzes, cubing and debate competitions were organized for the participation of students from third to fifth grade to develop the talent and mindset of children. Starting from the upazila level, these competitions were held step by step at the national level. 2 crore 18 lakh 28 thousand 693 students of the country's school level participated in it. The 'Primary Education Award-2026' will be awarded to the best students selected after passing various stages at the event.
In addition, individuals and institutions that have made special contributions to the field of education will also be honored. The honor will be given to the best individuals and institutions selected from among 12,384 individuals in 15 categories at the individual level and 65,546 institutions in two categories at the institutional level.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate a tree plantation program in government primary schools across the country at the event.
At the same time, various initiatives, innovative activities and steps taken in primary education programs of 64 districts of the country will be presented. Various activities including 'School Feeding', 'Enjoyable Education', 'Digital Education' and 'Foundational Learning' will be highlighted at stalls in different districts.
